Re-plating

Motrac Racing offers a complete cylinder plating and re-conditioning service for plated cylinders. This includes cylinders plated with a range of surfaces such as: Nickel-Silicon-Carbide (Nikasil), Chrome, alusil, electro- fusion and other plating methods.

Many manufacturers have their own variation of cylinder coating but don’t worry as we can advise.

Our expertise is race engineering. We understand the end use of a racing cylinder in the most extreme circumstances. We provide a finished product which is ready to use, and perfectly suited to your application.

Motrac Racing aims to provide the best service to customers worldwide by working with industry experts. We always work to very high standards with access to on-site materials and metrology laboratories.

Single and multi cylinder Blocks for Motorcycles, cars, jet-ski and snow scooters.

Most high performance two-stroke and  many four-stroke engines rely on coated cylinder bores. A hard surface coating typically Nickel-Silicon-Carbide, Chrome or some variation of the two is applied directly onto the aluminium cylinder bore. When this becomes worn or damaged we restore your cylinder to its ‘as new’ condition.

Motrac Racing can also assist those involved with cylinder/engine development by offering a cylinder plating service. Motrac has worked with many GP racing and engine project teams to provide expertise and advice. If you are producing a new cylinder and and considering bore surface options, call for some expert advice.

Cylinder Repair
Most cylinders no matter how badly damaged can usually be repaired. Cracks, gouges, scores and detonation damage can be mended and nearly always at a fraction of the cost of a new cylinder.

Once repairs have been carried out and the cylinder has been re-plated, Motrac Racing will dress all the port edges, relieve exhaust bridges (where applicable) and thoroughly clean and inspect every cylinder prior to dispatch.

Re-bores

There are still millions of iron lined cylinder barrels in use but getting a manufacturer level finish can be a challenge. We work well within typical manufacturer tolerances and provide a precision multi-stage honed finish of the highest quality. We dress all the port edges, relieve exhaust bridges (where applicable), thoroughly clean and inspect every cylinder prior to dispatch.
